UEFA Women’s EURO 2022

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 kicked off in Sheffield on 9th July with a match between Sweden and the Netherlands at Bramall Lane.  Running alongside the tournament is an exciting arts and heritage programme which celebrates and explores the rich history of the women’s game.

On Tuesday 26h July, the semi-finals, UK Centre for Carnival Arts will present a spectacular football-themed carnival arts mini parade.  The carnival will take centre stage at the Devonshire Green Fan Zone in Sheffield from 3-6 pm.  The fusion of football and carnival will pay homage to both African Caribbean culture and the Yorkshire carnival traditions.  The carnival parade will create a truly inclusive family-friendly atmosphere which will get the party of fans moving to the sounds of soca beats in the Fan Zone.

UK Centre for Carnival Arts hope, through this engagement, to connect, inspire, and strengthen communities from across Sheffield and further afield, supporting community cohesion by sharing the richness and diversity of African and Caribbean culture with visiting fans and home-based fans.

UK Centre for Carnival Arts have been sponsored by Sheffield Grammar School Exhibition Foundation, Sheffield Town Trust, and Sheffield City Council and is supported by Arts Council of England.
