Embracing Carnival Arts in Education
UKCCA offers schools workshops for groups as a fun and interesting way to learn new skills through carnival arts. All carnival activities are linked directly to subject areas within the national curriculum. UKCCA has a proven track record in the successful delivery of a range of innovative, informative and interactive opportunities for learners from early years through to adult education.
The activities encompass the Caribbean, African, Latin America, Asia and the European historical and contemporary contributions to Carnival and Carnival Arts. We have a variety of different resource packs available for teachers to use to deliver carnival activities in the classroom. For Teachers we will be pursuing CPD, (INSET) opportunities. UKCCA also offers a series of seasonal school visits for tours, interactive workshops or demonstrations relating to the Carnival Art form.
UKCCA seeks to raise the attainment levels of young people by linking Carnival Arts to curriculum learning and even to the daily lifestyles of young people. Our longer term aim is to develop, implement and position carnival arts into mainstream Education. We provide an ambitious and inspirational outlet for those who might struggle with the main academic curriculum, by enabling opportunities for success through more creative mediums.
We are also always interested in helping schools particpate in Carnival activites and events, particularly Luton International Carnival.
