Digital Academy Project

Want to learn about how to make urban music or dance? Challenge yourself!

Get involved in the Digital Academy Music and Dance Project

Tuesday evenings from 5pm until 8pm at UKCCA, 3 St Mary's Road, Luton, LU1 3JA

The course starts on Tuesday 24th January 2012 and runs for 9 weeks.

About the Digital Academy Project

The project is an annual music programme run in collaboration with Theatre Is...  to enable young people to explore urban music, compose and produce their own tracks. Digital Academy is aimed at young people between the ages of 14 to 18 who love music and would like to take their interest a step further.

The Digital Academy project began in 2005 with several young people from Luton writing and producing music, culminating with the young people performing on the stage at Luton International Carnival and other outdoor events.

The programme is led by musician/producer David Harks, who is working closely with leading practitioners to hold weekly Tuesday evening sessions culminating in a Slam Night style performance will showcase the work created to date.

Carnival Arts covers a variety of very diverse art forms from visual arts and costume making through to dance and music. We hope through this music project we will create a pool of talented young people who will be confident and capable in music production. The project gives young people the skills and confidence to participate, not only in Carnival, but also to learn about MC'ing, DJ'ing, music production and editing.

Training schemes are offered at different levels for the various stages that the young people are within the programme. We hope that some of the more experienced young people who have already achieved a great deal in their music development will act as mentors for more less experienced young people. The young people, if they wish, will have the opportunity to work towards gaining an Arts Award certificate in either Bronze or Silver.
