Creating Creative Partnerships

Illustrating the value of delivering six stages of carnival

UKCCA's strategic partnership with Creativity Culture and Education delivered 'Creative Partnerships' in Luton and Bedford schools over the period 2009-11. Creative Partnerships (CP) was a creative learning programme, designed to develop the skills of young people across England, raising their aspirations and equipping them for their futures.

Although this programme has now come to a close, we are very proud of what it achieved.

Long-term relationships between creative professionals and schools lay at the heart of the Creative Partnerships process. Creative professionals worked as Creative Agents, helping to plan, monitor and evaluate the programme, or as Creative Practitioners working directly with young people and teachers.

A total of 32 schools in Luton and Bedford participated in the UKCCA Creative Partnership programme.

In addition to supporting Luton and Bedford schools involved in the programme, the Creative Partnerships at UKCCA aims were:

  • Explore the values of carnival through CP work
  • Make connections between CP work in schools and artistic expressions of carnival
  • Support ‘CP-ready’ training and capacity building for local and carnival artists

Please visit the Creative Partnership website for more information.

We'll be uploading some fantastic case studies shortly.
